For those who have met me at the shows, remember the frenzie of people digging through the bins looking for just the perfect saddle? My booth was always packed and people loved it.
Hand selected by Dr Whiting, he wanted people to pick them up and bend the feathers. There was no way we could have them in packaging, they would have been torn to pieces taking them in and out of the bags...

Historic Saddles / Blue Duns
Todays hackle lines date back to the 1950's when the pioneers of hackle, Harry Darbee and Henry Hoffman began the breeding selection process to produce just the right feather to tie their favorite patterns.
Then came Ted Hebert and Andy Miner who both made their mark, adding length and colors. Some of the saddles listed here date back to those days, others are compliments of Dr. Whiting's effort to preserve the lines in their original colors and form, kind of a snapshot into hackle history.

Historic Saddles / Brown Duns
Todays hackle lines date back to the 1950's when the pioneers of hackle, Harry Darbee and Henry Hoffman began the breeding selection process to produce just the right feather to tie their favorite patterns.
Then came Ted Hebert and Andy Miner who both made their mark, adding length and colors. Some of the saddles listed here date back to those days, others are compliments of Dr. Whiting's effort to preserve the lines in their original colors and form, kind of a snapshot into hackle history.
