A few years ago I had the pleasure of visiting with Bill Keough at his farm in Mendon Michigan. He is a man on the move, but none the less, he took the time to give me the grand tour.
Much to my surprise, Keough Hackles is a one man operation. From hatch to harvest, he is on the job. He even showed me his skining chair, with a TV close by so he can keep up with his favorite soaps.
His hands-on work ethic has paid off for him. Today Keough Hackles is one of the largest producers of quality genetic hackle on the market.
The "Working Man's Hackle"
Keough Hackles offers an exceptional grade of hackle at an affordable price. His dry fly cock capes have feathers that you can tie sizes from 4 down to 22 and smaller. The barring on the grizzly is clean and well balanced. The feathers have flexible stems, a high barb density, and stiff barbs.
"Masters Tyer's Grade" is Keough's highest grade. Second is his "Tyer's Grade". Both are an excellent value and you can be assured that you will tie the maximum number of flies for the least amount of money. For those of you who have yet to tie with one, you should try them out.

Unfortunatly, due to the present hackle shortage, it may be some time until these are available again.
You'll find that the feathers range from dry fly on the top half, to wider softer feathers on lower half.
So please check back and if there is something you are in need of, please give me a call.

One of the benefits of a hen cape is that the smaller sizes on the top of the neck have a stem long enough to give you a few wraps - even on the smallest of flys.

|Keough Hen Saddles||$15.00|
This color looks more like a burnt orange or a golden brown. None the less, the feathers on these Keough saddles are some of the softest you'll find.
