The classic salmon fly The Britannia calls for these feathers for the wing. They are used as whole feather matched pairs.

They are a rich reddish-brown with irregular barring. They can be used also for throats and collars on Steelhead and Spey style flies.

As waterfowl can be very tricky to use for collars at times, the Shoveler has fine rachii and that makes wrapping as a collar or throat almost a pleasure
